Wild Path Mountain Guides mountain guiding and instruction company based in the Scottish Highlands. Its run by partners Dan and Jo who are passionate climbers and mountaineers who bring together many years of qualified and experienced guiding and instruction. From our base in the heart of the Scottish Highlands our courses and journeys make use of some of the best Scotland has to offer in both summer and winter. Our aim is to combine our experience and qualifications to deliver courses that both inspire and inform and to provide participants with a rewarding experience. Whether its a winter skills course, learning to rock climb or taking a guided journey along the iconic Skye ridge we aim to provide both memorable and inspiring courses and experiences.
We offer both guiding throughout the Highlands and Islands either rock climbing, scrambling, hillwalking or winter mountain days. Our instructional courses are aimed at delivering the skills for individuals to go out onto the crags and into the mountains best equipped to be independent in their chosen area. We are qualified for what we offer and have combined many years of experience throughout the UK and overseas.
We have also worked for many years in Kenya, East Africa. Here our role was delivering the adventurous training to the British Army. This along with many years of living and working there has given us a unique position to be able to arrange and provide unique climbing and mountaineering expeditions to the area.
Dan has twenty years of experience in the industry, a background that began as a child with mountaineering parents. His grounding came in the late 90's through Outward Bound in the Scottish Highlands. Since then he has worked on a variety of courses from hard skills training and assessment courses, outdoor ed courses and overseas expeditions. This includes delivering hard skills courses for the national centre, Glenmore Lodge, as an associate instructor.
His qualifications include: WMCI(t), MCI, Winter Mountain Leader, Summer Mountain Leader, RCI (Rock.Climbing instructor), MIAS level 3 (MTB),UK Canyon Guides Single Pitch Guide and a current Wilderness First Aid Certificate.
'Dan has also written and reported on mountaineering topics for a variety of outlets. These have ranged from news and conditions in the mountains to instructional articles. He also has a keen interest in filming and has worked on various projects including documenting the Scottish Dry Tooling series. Jo has many years of experience in the outdoors and is a passionate climber and mountaineer with a love of wild places. She has climbed and explored throughout the UK, European Alps, Morocco and East Africa's Northern Kenya. She is experienced in guiding individuals, young people and delivered adventurous training and rock courses to the British Army in East Africa. Her work has been with a variety of outdoor providers including the national centre Plas Y Brenin. She is a member of the Mountain Training Association and also a trainee member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.
Her qualifications are MCI trainee, Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, Rock climbing Instructor and holds a current outdoor first aid
During busy periods we may employ other guides and instructors we ensure that they are appropriately qualified for what they are delivering and also hold insurance, fully up to date with CPD points and hold a first aid certificate. Anyone who works for us must be a member of either Mountain Training, the Association of Mountaineering Instructors or the British Mountain Guides Association.
