Scrambling bridges the gap between rock climbing and hillwalking which can be a difficult area to navigate. Scotland offers a huge wealth of scrambling from unroped more adventurous ways to the summit to more technical graded scrambles which employ rock climbing skills and rope work. We offer all aspects of this discipline and are lucky enough to be based in the Scottish Highlands which gives so many of the UK’s finest mountain journeys. The famous Skye ridge, lofty summits in the North West Highlands and the classic ridges of Ben Nevis and Glencoe. Our courses fit into two categories guided mountain journeys and instruction courses for those looking to operate safely and independently in the mountains on technical terrain.
Our instruction courses look at making the step from hillwalking to the use of the rope. Understanding belaying, rock protection, anchors and abseils are all the essential skills needed to complete numerous mountain journeys. We cover these skills while operating on scrambles and climbs giving you the best practical learning experience. All equipment is provided along with our expert instruction. This style of climbing also lends itself to Alpine climbing and can offer a good course preparing for Alpine climbing.
Guided journeys are throughout the Highlands. We do regular trips on the Skye ridge and also a selection of day scrambles on this famed ridge. We operate through the Highlands with a particular focus on Ben Nevis, Glencoe and the North West Highlands. We are available for your chosen route but are also happy to create a tailor made plan taking in your ability, accommodation and aims.
We also deliver subsidised courses on behalf of the Austrian Alpine Club UK for which we are the Scottish provider for instruction courses. Have a look here for further details and dates.
